Cheerleading workshop for adults with artist Louise Siffert – as part of KEEPYOURSPIRITUP!, a programme for Eté Culturel 2024
Accompanied by the danger Lina Schlageter, Louise Siffert will be offering a workshop on encouragement, encouraging others and, above all, encouraging yourself and the team you’re part of. After a session devoted to listening to what comforts, supports and strengthens us, and to writing slogans and other rallying cries, the second session will be devoted to putting them into action. Drawing on the codes of cheerleading, a sporting discipline in which participants get together to cheer on the team they support by singing slogans and chants accompanied by choreography, Louise Siffert intends to blend these registers with those she experiments in her artistic practice.
Louise Siffert
Born in 1988, lives and works in Paris.
Louise Siffert trained as a scenographer before studying at the Beaux-arts de Paris. The world of work and alienation, the quest for well-being, the place of habits: her performances question and relate these current themes in a theatrical and burlesque setting. Anchoring her work in scientific and sociological reflection (queer theories, gender studies, decolonial studies, etc.), she creates characters with exaggerated personalities, overexploiting the codes of language and behaviour attributed to them. Her work can be found in the collections of the CNAP and the CAPC in Bordeaux, among others.
